AffableBooks.com came about for several reasons. One, a very good friend of mine got published and I wanted a way to spread the word about her (excellent) book. Two, I like to tell people about awesome books, and, being the narcissist that I am, I think everyone would love books that I love. Three, I already review books for TitleTrakk.com and occasionally I review books on my personal blog. All of the books that I get for review are from Christian publishing houses, and while I do like a lot of Christian fiction (and quite a bit of it is really good- you’ll see some on this site), it’s not the only thing that I like. I want to be able to tell the world about all of the books that I love, not just the ones that fit into ideological guidelines. I could do this on my personal blog, but my personal blog is geared to writers, not readers, and therefore isn’t the best place for spreading the book love.
As the name suggests, this site is only for books that I love. Don’t expect negative reviews, intricate rehashings of every sub-plot, or a rant against an author. Books. That. I. Love.
You can’t. At least, not directly. If your book is published through a Christian publisher, contact TitleTrakk, a Christian book/music/movie review and interviews site. Either I or one of their other reviewers will probably be glad to review your book, but that’s not guaranteed. If your book is otherwise published, you can submit it to me for review on my personal blog. If your book becomes one of my “OMG I LOVE THIS BOOK” books, then you can expect a post here at AffableBooks.com.
For now, the only way to contact me is through my contact form. If there is enough interest, I may add Facebook and Twitter in the future. (Requesting that I create a Facebook Fan Page is a legitimate use of the contact form.)
