Welcome to AffableBooks.com. Want a really good book? That’s what this site is for. Let me tell you how it works.
Step 1. I read a really good book.
Step 2. I tell you about it by posting here.
Step 3. You read the really good book, declare that I’m a goddess for suggesting it to you, and choirs of angels sing.
Step 4. Or something like that.
Most likely, you’ve arrived here by searching for one of the really good books that I’ve listed here, or possibly followed an ad to one of the books, and then clicked through to view this homepage to find out more about this site, or to find another really good book.
You may have noticed that my site is a little spartan. I happen to like the clean, simple look, so I had to set up navigation a little differently. So here’s how to find more really good books.
On the bottom of this site is a series of links. Each link will take you to a broad topic page, such as Fantasy, Sci Fi, Chick Lit, General Fiction, and Non-Fiction. The first three are my main interest, so books are likely to be more heavily weighted there. General fiction is a catch-all for everything that isn’t one of the others, and I’ll set up headers within the page to define what kind of genre you’re looking at. The other pages (About/Contact, Disclosure) are simply informative pages.
I do not consider YA or “Christian” to be genres- so those books are filed under their primary genres. For example, Harry Potter is generally considered middle grade or YA, but it is primarily a Fantasy series, and so it can be found under Fantasy.
My rule of thumb for the kind of book that I consider a “really good book” to be posted on this site is that it has to be the kind of book that I would rate a 4 or 5 stars on Amazon/Barnes&Nobel/whatever other book store that allows ratings. Or. It must have something so incredibly cool and awesome in it that even though it’s not a 4 or 5 star book, that it’s still totally worth telling all of your friends about. Some are classics, some are newly published, some are established authors, some are first or second time published authors, some are part of a series or actually are a series (if you think I’m reviewing each Robert Jordan Wheel of Time book individually, you’re smoking something). Some titles may be in Christian publishing, but I will only post books that I would recommend to anyone (at least, anyone who reads that genre). These may not be all of my favorite books, but they’re the best of my favorite books.
Your opinion and mine may differ, but each of these is what I would consider a really good book.
